Water-Gate: How does it work?
How Water-Gate dams work
Understanding how a self-stabilizing barrier works is essential to grasping the effectiveness of the Watergate system. Indeed, unlike conventional devices that work against pressure, this technology uses the weight of the water to press the barrier to the ground. As a result, the higher the water level, the more stable and hermetic the protection becomes.
Firstly, deployment requires no permanent anchoring or preliminary work. Secondly, hydraulic force is applied to the base of the barrier, creating an immediate seal on almost any type of surface. What’s more, this mechanical simplicity means it can be set up by a small team in just a few minutes. In short, Watergate transforms a threat into a stabilizing force.
1. Automatic deployment
- Water-Gate barriers are designed to deploy automatically under water pressure.
- Stored rolled up, they unroll quickly as soon as the water begins to rise.
2. Stabilization
- Once deployed, the barriers use hydraulic power to stabilize themselves.
- The pressure of the water against the barrier increases its stability and efficiency.
3. Flood blocking
- The gates create a robust seal thanks to their unique design.
- They prevent water from entering protected areas, providing a solid physical barrier against flooding.

Highlights
- Flexible, resistant materials: PVC-coated polyester fabric, capable of resisting water pressure, debris and abrasion.
- Innovative design: Automatic deployment and stabilization by hydraulic force. Compact storage after deployment
- Easy to use and maintain: quick, tool-free installation, suitable for everyone. No maintenance required, apart from cleaning with clear water and storing in a dark place.
- Modular: can be placed on any surface without anchoring, and can be extended with Velcro fasteners.

Packaging
Water-Gate barriers can be packaged in containers, crates or individual rolls, for easy handling and emergency deployment.
Container: for outdoor storage and lengths between 300 and 1000 meters
Boxes: can be handled by pallet truck, clark or trailer. The barriers are pre-assembled for rapid deployment and storage.
Individual roll: ideal for storing small to medium lengths, due to their small volume.

Certified technology
Water-Gate barriers are certified by FM Global, one of the world’s largest insurance companies, according to extremely strict criteria and quality standards.
